While it has been a rainy winter so far, I haven’t had much opportunity to photograph, so I will share another photograph from my honeymoon. Melissa and I took a side trip to Petrified Forest National Park. I wasn’t sure what to expect, since I didn’t do too much research on the place. Before we arrived, I was forming a plan to find a good spot that faced east to capture the moon rise. It was the day before the supermoon and the moon was rising at nearly the same time as the sun was setting. I was very disappointed when we arrived and were informed by the ranger at the gate that the park closed at 5pm and everyone would be forced out (before the moon would rise and the sun would set). We stopped at a bunch of overlooks and took a short walk around the Blue Mesas. The petrified wood was fascinating and beautiful.
