Wave Lines in the Sand – Potomac River Shore, Kinsale, Virginia

I am fascinated by the unique blend of patterns and seeming randomness found in nature. In the case of the shoreline along the Potomac River, where I stayed for my family vacation, small, consistent waves broke and left lines in the sand at the furthest edge of their reach. As the tide went out, it made for these awesome wavy lines along the beach. I waited for a wave to bring it’s foamy edge up near the lines to capture this photo. The low angle of the sunset light catches the edge of the lines to highlight them.
